Baseball Recap: Langston Hughes Comes Up Short

After flying high against Banneker last Thursday, Langston Hughes came back down to earth. The Langston Hughes Panthers fell just short of the Lovejoy Wildcats by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Salah Mckee and Ladanian Brock did some serious damage despite the final result: Mckee scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3, while Brock scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Mckee is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Langston Hughes' defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7. As for Lovejoy, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6-1.

While Langston Hughes had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
