The Glendale Nitros will face off against the Van Nuys Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Glendale has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Glendale's last matchup with Bell Gardens could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Nitros came up short against the Lancers, falling 18-8.
Glendale saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliana Bautista, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Rachel Francis was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Van Nuys gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against Vaughn as they made off with an 18-8 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the White Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
ARIEL PUENTE made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. PUENTE was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Van Nuys got a massive performance out of Isabella Espinoza, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Espinoza has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Angelina Volpe, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Van Nuys was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive games dating back to last season.
Glendale's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Van Nuys, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Glendale's way against Van Nuys in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Glendale made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Nitros have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
