Baseball Recap: South Has No Trouble Against North

It was a classic North v. South duel when South took on North on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Saxons 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Dane Rhodes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tyler Dow, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for South and bumps their season record up to 14-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

South will venture away from home to challenge Redondo Union at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 4, the Sea Hawks 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
