Baseball Recap: Monache Wins Going Away Against Foothill

The Monache Marauders made easy work of the Foothill Trojans on Monday and carried off a 14-3 win. That looming 14-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Marauders yet this season.

Maddox Miguel and Lewis Green made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Miguel tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Green tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Miguel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Miguel scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Green scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Green is becoming a predictor of Monache's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Ty Baxter was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Tyson Chavez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Monache was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted a batting average of .042.

The victory made it two in a row for Monache and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Foothill, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monache will venture away from home to challenge Redwood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Redwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Monache's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Foothill, they will face off against Rosamond at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
