The Cypress Centurions's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They snuck past Rowland with a 55-49 victory.
Isabella Caceres continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with 7 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Cypress' points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Ponteres, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Rowland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Czarina Powell, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. Powell scored a full 32.7% of Rowland's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrienne Bausley, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Cypress' win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Rowland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Cypress will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cerritos at 6:15 p.m. on December 12th. As for Rowland, they will square off against California Academy of Math & Science at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. California Academy of Math & Science will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1144th, while Rowland is ranked 550th).
