Connor Wilkie and Chris Larson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Totino-Grace. The longest such play in Northwest Suburban this season, the connection resulted in 76 yards.
Champlin Park was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Blaine. The Rebels came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
Andover's dynamic duo of Wilkie and Larson proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilkie threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns and Larson had 98 yards receiving. Tyler Evans helped Andover's passing attack out by catching six balls for 41 yards.
Cory Odom made the biggest impact on defense this week as Anoka beat Coon Rapids. The 6-foot-0 senior forced one fumble and grabbed 1.0 sack.
Kristian Manthey was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 135 yards as the Tornadoes lost to Totino-Grace. Teammate Brent Golobich added to the ground attack by rushing for 76 yards.
Alex Copa provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bengals fell to Champlin Park. He completed 16 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 112 yards. Copa's favorite target this week was Naji El-Araby, who caught five passes for 62 yards.
On the ground, Mike Korton's team's Michael Sales has rushed for 619 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bryce Marquardt. The Champlin Park star has 27 catches for 459 yards.
A big matchup in Northwest Suburban this week will be when Elk River takes on Osseo. The Elks are currently in seventh, while the Orioles are in second.
Jeff Ferguson's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Andover, 14-12. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
