This season hasn't been kind to the University Christian Barracudas, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They took a 34-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Millers Creek Christian on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for University Christian in their matchups with Millers Creek Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, University Christian saw an underclassman step up: Patrick Garmon scored seven points. Garmon continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Cam Layaou continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Millers Creek Christian, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Layaou's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Heath, who scored eight points along with six steals.
University Christian's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Millers Creek Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
University Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Lure Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Millers Creek Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Ashe County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
