The Our Lady of the Elms Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the St. Martin de Porres Lions on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 55-47 to the Lions. Our Lady of the Elms lost against St. Martin de Porres in their previous head to head back in January of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 74-21 score last time.
Lyric Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Martin de Porres, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Walker, who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Our Lady of the Elms has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for St. Martin de Porres, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Our Lady of the Elms will take on Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Martin de Porres, they will look to defend their home court on Sunday against Cleveland Central Catholic at 11:30 a.m. Cleveland Central Catholic is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
