Argos had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-17 to make it 14. They lost 13-3 to the Oregon-Davis Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Saturday.
Willie Barenie made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Noah Lewis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Oregon-Davis, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
On Oregon-Davis' side, Andrew Siroky made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Siroky a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Oregon-Davis let Rylan Mcintosh and Brady Danford run wild. Mcintosh went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Danford went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Danford is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Cooke, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Argos wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 loss against Tippecanoe Valley on the 21st. As for Oregon-Davis, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-2 victory against South Shore Homeschool Athletics on the 19th.
