East Gaston will head out on the road to take on West Iredell at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Gaston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
East Gaston is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bessemer City with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won nine in a row.

Jackson Messer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, Cameron Barnette was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. East Gaston is undefeated when Barnette posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Parker Stafford was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run.
East Gaston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, West Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Hibriten, falling 7-1.
Trae Clyburn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
West Iredell's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for East Gaston, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
West Iredell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Gaston has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for West Iredell, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given East Gaston's sizable advantage in that area, West Iredell will need to find a way to close that gap.
East Gaston took their victory against West Iredell in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Gaston since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
