New Covenant had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys 67-45. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Tristan Isenhour continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 11 en route to 20 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Rusty Hooks was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: New Covenant was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy only posted three assists.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ethan Hahn, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Josh Bisnett, who posted six points.

New Covenant's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Covenant will head out to square off against Roanoke Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Covenant has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they will square off against Timberlake Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy is facing Timberlake Christian at the right time seeing as Timberlake Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
