Baseball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Tokay Tigers

The Chavez Titans will face off against the Tokay Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chavez's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matchups, but Wednesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bear Creek hit Chavez with a eight-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans came up short against the Bruins, falling 15-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.

Makana Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.

Lodi hit Tokay with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers lost 13-4 to the Flames. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Flames recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chavez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tokay struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Chavez suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Tokay when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
