The Blackhawk Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 59-15 stomp they got at home against New Castle. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-6.
Blackhawk got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alena Fusetti out in front who scored 16 points. Andrea Kinger was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Blackhawk pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for New Castle, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackhawk won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Union Area at 1:45 p.m. on December 29th. Union Area will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Blackhawk is ranked 40th). As for New Castle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shaler Area at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
