The West Tallahatchie Choctaws suffered their biggest loss since November 7, 2023 on Wednesday. They suffered a tough 59-33 defeat at the hands of Simmons. West Tallahatchie was down 41-17 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
West Tallahatchie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mi'Kenzi Christian, who scored 13 points. That was a full 39.4% of West Tallahatchie's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakyliha Johnson, who scored eight points.
Akiah Prince continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Simmons, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Prince has scored at least a third of Simmons' points. Another player making a difference was Vontasia Rush, who scored eight points along with six steals.
West Tallahatchie's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9. As for Simmons, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
West Tallahatchie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Simmons, they will head out on the road to face off against South Delta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Delta will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
