Ellie Arnold was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Daelin Ruff, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Peak to Peak had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over Adams City on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Pumas, who have now won seven matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Margot McCune made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Trasky, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Cindy Woo, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
Peak to Peak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Jefferson Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Peak to Peak, their record is now 7-13.
Jefferson Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Peak to Peak, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jefferson Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Jefferson Academy suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Peak to Peak in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
