Baseball Recap: Foothill Wins Going Away Against Benicia

Foothill had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Benicia Panthers on Friday as they made off with a 10-4 win. Considering the Falcons have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Landon Comerford, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. George Schmitt was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Foothill and bumps their season record up to 21-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Benicia, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9.

Coming up, Foothill is taking a road trip to take on De La Salle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Benicia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
