The loss was a bit of a surprise, as West came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 901st).
West's loss came despite strong showings from Iyanna King mathews and Caleigh Adams. King mathews scored 17 points along with four steals, while Adams dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. King mathews is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nala Roberts Wright, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Golden Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-16 record this season.
West will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Tehachapi is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Golden Valley, they will challenge the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Foothill has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
