The Charleroi Cougars were the 56-35 winner over the Brownsville Falcons when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Charleroi took a hard 62-47 fall against Brownsville on Friday. Charleroi has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Charleroi lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bella Carroto, who scored 22 points. Ella Sypolt was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Charleroi has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Brownsville, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Charleroi won't have much time to rest: their next match is against California at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. California will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Brownsville, they will head out on the road to take on Waynesburg Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Waynesburg Central's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Brownsville has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
