Northview is 0-6 against Pace since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Chiefs will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Northview sitting on four straight victories and Pace on three.
Northview had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Baker on Tuesday. The Chiefs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Gators a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Daviona Randolph made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Northview got a big performance out of Avery Stuckey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Riley Brooks was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Northview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baker only posted a batting average of .174.
Gulf Breeze typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Pace proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Dolphins.
Hannah DeMarcus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Pierce, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Britten Kettler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Northview's record is now 9-3. As for Pace, their record now sits at 11-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Northview has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Pace struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northview came up short against Pace when the teams last played back in February, falling 4-0. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
