The St. Charles West Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Valley Park Hawks at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Charles West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
St. Charles West will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Pattonville on Monday. The Warriors walked away with an 11-8 win over the Pirates. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Evelyn Denison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Emylie Blassingame was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lydia Huster, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Valley Park scored first but ultimately less than Incarnate Word Academy in their matchup on Monday. They came up short against the Red Knights, falling 15-7.
Adison Durbin put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. Durbin was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Charley Perkins and Jenna Chitwood stepped up to the plate in a big way. Perkins went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles, while Chitwood went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Valley Park now has a losing record of 9-10. As for St. Charles West, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Everything went St. Charles West's way against Valley Park in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as St. Charles West made off with a 21-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
