The Attica Red Ramblers will head out on the road to take on the North White Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Attica has four straight wins, North White has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Attica got the win against Cissna Park by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Red Ramblers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Jayce Larson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Bradon Terry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Attica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, North White fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against North Newton on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans.
Charlie Williams was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason DeBoard, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Isaiah Howard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
North White's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Attica, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
North White's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Attica hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for North White, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Attica's hitters?
