The Gustine Reds will face off against the Bear River Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Gustine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Golden Sierra get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Reds have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexander Quezada and Jake Campbell made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Quezada tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Campbell pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Quezada went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Campbell went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Campbell has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Mike Saaranzin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Salsa, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Gustine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bear River). They blew past Leroy Greene Academy 17-4 on Tuesday. The Bruins not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7, 2024 (when they won 30-4).
The team relied heavily on Cooper Lunsford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Nolan Allen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Bear River has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Gustine, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gustine has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
