The Woodrow Wilson Bruins will square off against the Lakewood Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Woodrow Wilson 3.9, Lakewood 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Tuesday, Woodrow Wilson had just enough and edged out Canyon 2-1.

Woodrow Wilson's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was James Mirabile, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Mirabile a new career-high in hits. Logan Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Compton an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lancers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Nate Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Lakewood got several good pitching performances, but Aiden DeStouet was perhaps the best, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave DeStouet a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
Back at the plate, Nate Gallegos was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tanner Miramontes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Lakewood now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Woodrow Wilson, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.
Woodrow Wilson was able to grind out a solid win over Lakewood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Will Woodrow Wilson repeat their success, or does Lakewood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
