The MaxPreps high school softball computer rankings are updated twice a week, and the most recent update on Thursday, March 31 has
Vanden (Fairfield, Calif.) climbing up the Top 25.
The Vikings are 6-0 and have one of the top pitchers in the section in Santa Clara commit
Hazyl Gray. She has struck out 42 batters in 27 innings. Senior
Mia Santos also is off to a hot start. The speedy lefty is batting .619. As more games are played, look for them to continue their upward route.
Del Oro (Loomis, Calif.) sits at No. 1 even though their lone loss was to second-ranked
Elk Grove. The Golden Eagles have won 10-straight games since, including seven against Top 25 teams. Idaho State commit
Olivia Robison has hit four home runs and is batting .429 overall.
The Thundering Herd are no doubt for real at 11-0 after some very impressive wins. The brutal Delta League has begun, which features some of the best talent in the entire state.
St. Francis (Sacramento) recently knocked off fourth-ranked
Folsom 2-1 on the road on Tuesday. If this was any sign of what lies ahead in the Division 1 playoffs, we might have the most loaded D1 bracket in section history.
