The Rio Linda Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Dixon Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rio Linda can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mesa Verde 52-9 at home. Given Rio Linda's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Mesa Verde is ranked 905th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rio Linda got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariah Walton out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Kyrri Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Dixon entered their tilt with Mira Loma with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Dixon took their game at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 59-30 win over Mira Loma. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Dixon has posted against Mira Loma since February 11, 2020.
Rio Linda is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Dixon, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
Rio Linda came out on top in a nail-biter against Dixon when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 56-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Linda since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
