After losing to the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats the last time they met, the Elkhorn Valley Falcons decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Elkhorn Valley walked away with a 52-44 victory over Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Elkhorn Valley.
JJ Black was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 11 times she's played. Cameron Rutjens was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Elkhorn Valley pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhorn Valley will take on Niobrara/Verdigre at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Niobrara/Verdigre will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Wausa. Wausa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] is ranked 45th).
