The Patrick Henry Patriots will head out to square off against the Helix Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Patrick Henry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Patrick Henry is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Bonita Vista on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Barons by a score of 2-1. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Barons since Wednesday.
Patrick Henry got a good showing from Eli Brum, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Brum hasn't allowed a single hit since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Helix's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Point Loma by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Highlanders have suffered since April 29, 2025.
Helix also got a good showing from Maddox Richardson, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Helix saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braydon Rehbein, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Ben Williams was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
The defeat was their first at home, dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Helix, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Patrick Henry's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Helix, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Patrick Henry continue to outrun the ball?
Patrick Henry couldn't quite get it done against Helix when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 5-2. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
