The Hapeville Charter Hornets will face off against the Mays Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mays will be up against a hot Hapeville Charter squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went Hapeville Charter's way against Creekside on Wednesday as Hapeville Charter made off with a 15-7 win. While the Hornets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
S Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last four games he's played. A George was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
Hapeville Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mays got themselves on the board against KIPP Atlanta Collegiate on Thursday, but KIPP Atlanta Collegiate never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 14-0 margin over the Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Amari Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mays got a massive performance out of Ronald Tucker, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, Tucker posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chance Thomas, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 3-for-3.
Hapeville Charter's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mays, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hapeville Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Mays struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Hapeville Charter's way against Mays when the teams last played on Saturday, as Hapeville Charter made off with an 11-0 victory. Will Hapeville Charter repeat their success, or does Mays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
