After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carlsbad, Hilltop was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Escondido Cougars 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since March 22, 2025.
Hilltop got a great performance from Catherine Vasquez as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, Hilltop let Ninoshka Castro and Natalie Wood run wild. Castro went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Wood went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Wood has posted since back in April of 2025.
