The Mountain Empire Redhawks will head out on the road to face off against The Cambridge School Griffins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Saturday, Mountain Empire beat Borrego Springs 20-11. The victory was just what Mountain Empire needed coming off of a 47-11 loss in their prior game.
Mountain Empire found their leader in underclassman Bibi Caceres, who scored 8 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Caceres has scored at least 25% of Mountain Empire's points.
Meanwhile, The Cambridge School put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against School for Entrepreneurship & Technology by a score of 37-26. Given The Cambridge School's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 490th, while School for Entrepreneurship & Technology is ranked 1117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The losses dropped Mountain Empire to 2-5 and Borrego Springs to 0-8.
Mountain Empire might still be hurting after the 44-22 loss they got from The Cambridge School in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can Mountain Empire avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
