The Cleveland Cavaliers lost against the Taft Toreadors back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cleveland took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taft. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cleveland in their matchups with Taft: they've now lost eight in a row.
Cleveland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gabriella Calderon, who scored 18 points along with two steals. That was a full 47.4% of Cleveland's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Miles, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Cleveland's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Taft, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9.
Cleveland will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Granada Hills Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Taft, they will be playing at home against Birmingham at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
