Baseball Recap: Silver Creek Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Silver Creek had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Independence 76ers with a sharp 18-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Robert 'Bobby' Resendez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Cayleb Duran was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nicholas Prum was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Silver Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.

Silver Creek pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Independence, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.
