The Mount Miguel Matadors will venture away from home to face off against the High Tech SD Storm at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mount Miguel made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Orange Glen, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Matadors fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Matadors have suffered since March 31, 2025.
Mekhi Yancy and Jayden Sanchez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Yancy went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double, while Sanchez went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, High Tech SD took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They never let High Tech CV get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory.
Devon Caris was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Caris was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Izo Kobayashi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Liam Watters was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
High Tech SD always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Tech CV only posted an OBP of .273.
Mount Miguel might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from High Tech SD in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Can the Matadors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
