The Acalanes Dons will be taking part in a tournament against the Casa Grande Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Acalanes will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Acalanes is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Liberty on Friday as Acalanes made off with a 13-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Dons with their most commanding win of the season.
Acalanes got a great performance from Branson Smith as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ando Butner, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Drew Asadorian was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Acalanes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, while it was Casa Grande who put the first points on the board on Saturday, it was Cardinal Newman who put up more. Casa Grande fell just short of Cardinal Newman by a score of 4-3.
Danny Mercado made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Bushey, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Acalanes pushed their record up to 7-1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Acalanes came out on top in a nail-biter against Casa Grande in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will Acalanes repeat their success, or does Casa Grande has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
