The Mount Miguel Matadors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 89-64 defeat at the hands of Helix. Despite the loss, Mount Miguel still got an impressive performance from Jaylene Hughes, who scored 58 points. That was a full 90.6% of Mount Miguel's points, marking the 25th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mount Miguel struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Helix racked up 14 assists.
Jordyn McMillan was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points for Helix. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McMillan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Mount Miguel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-24 record this season. As for Helix, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-7.
