The Vallejo Redhawks posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Richmond out 45-43. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Vallejo was the better team in the second half.
Vallejo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Veekie Head, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. Jazmine Cardwell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Vallejo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. As for Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Vallejo won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against San Marin at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. San Marin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vallejo in California (San Marin is ranked 287th, while Vallejo is ranked 901st). As for Richmond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
