The Hilmar Yellowjackets lost against the Hughson Huskies back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Tuesday. Hilmar lost to Hughson on the road  by a decisive  50-34 margin. While losing is never fun, Hilmar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 673rd, while Hughson is ranked 323rd).
 Despite the loss, Hilmar still got an impressive performance from   Alicia Souza, who  dropped  a triple-double on 14 points, 17  rebounds, and ten  steals. Souza is on a roll when it comes to  blocks, as she's  now  posted two or more in the last three games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Emma Gomes, who  scored four points along with 12  rebounds and three  steals.
 Even though they lost, Hilmar  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 23  offensive rebounds. That's the most  offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
  Kareena Kang was  her usual excellent self,  scoring 15 points along with six  steals for Hughson. Kang hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of  Raegan Barstow, who  scored 14 points along with eight  rebounds and two  steals.
 Hilmar's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Hughson, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
 Hilmar will be playing at home against Ripon Christian at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Hughson, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Riverbank at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Hopefully Riverbank focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
