Baseball Game Preview: East Providence Townies vs. North Kingstown Skippers

The East Providence Townies will challenge the North Kingstown Skippers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games East Providence has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

East Providence is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: La Salle Academy, who was ranked fourth at the time (East Providence was ranked ninth). The Townies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rams 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Townies have posted against the Rams since May 9, 2018.

Dylan Annicelli tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has become a key player for East Providence: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Oliver Andrews was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aidan Martins, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

East Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, North Kingstown suffered their closest defeat since April 6, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Coventry by a score of 4-2. The Skippers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Kingstown's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for East Providence, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
