Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Burroughs

Burroughs waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 64-49 win over the Hesperia Scorpions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-60 back in January.

Burroughs had a senior duo take command as Kyla Baird went 10 of 22 en route to 24 points and Jhavmine Ave posted 17 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baird has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Serenity Haleman, who earned seven points and 11 rebounds.

Burroughs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Hesperia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Berlynn Miramontes, who scored 13 points and five boards. Paige Harralson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Burroughs pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Hesperia, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

Burroughs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-43 loss against Oak Hills on the 30th. As for Hesperia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-33 win against Apple Valley on the 29th.
