The Morse Tigers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the San Diego Cavers at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Morse is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in California (they are ranked 251st, while San Diego is ranked 716th).
After a string of three wins, Morse's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 67-47 loss at the hands of Cathedral Catholic. The match was a close 25-22 at the break, but unfortunately for Morse it sure didn't stay that way.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 22 to 14 on the offensive boards, a fact San Diego proved on Friday. They strolled past Point Loma with points to spare, taking the game 45-30.
San Diego's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lara Saucedo, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Saucedo hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanti Glenn, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Morse's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for San Diego, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Morse came out on top in a nail-biter against San Diego in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 44-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was San Diego's Dajanae Lewis, who scored 19 points along with seven steals. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Morse to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
