Bob Beatty and his Trinity Shamrocks did it again.
According to
Wave3 News,
Bradley West rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown,
Nathan McElroy passed for 193 and two more scores as the Shamrocks ended Male's 20-game win streak with a 28-6 victory Sunday in the 6A Kentucky State 6A title game at Kroger Field in Lexington.
In 20 season as head coach, Beatty won his 14th title, this one after Trinity (13-2) loss 20-17 during the regular season to the Bulldogs (14-1).
Branden Stearman gave Trinity all the points it needed with a 13-yard pick 6 in the first quarter, making it 7-0. The score remained that way until West added a 9-yard TD run in the third quarter and the way the Trinity defense played, this one was essentially done.
A 98-yard connection between McElroy and
Ryan Miller made it 21-6 in the fourth.
In other Kentucky championship play,
Isaac Dixon was evidently ready.
Belfry's 5-foot-10, 170-pound junior running back burst for touchdowns of 30, 69 and 8 yards leading to a 20-0 advantage en route to a 30-20 win over Bell County in the 3A championship game Friday at Kroger Field on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
