Basketball Recap: Ponderosa Piles Up the Points Against Oakmont

Ponderosa had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They really took it to the Oakmont Vikings for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-38 win. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Ponderosa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklynn Nordquist, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. What's more, Nordquist posted five steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Rowan Thomas was another key player, going 9-for-15 en route to 20 points and six rebounds.

Ponderosa was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakmont only six assists.

Despite the loss, Oakmont still got an impressive performance from Kaitlyn Fayter, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. That was a full 50% of Oakmont's points, marking the 15th time in a row Fayter has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lily Nelson, who earned nine points.

Ponderosa is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 25-4 record this season. Oakmont's loss dropped their record down to 19-11.

Ponderosa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-34 win against Ceres on the 20th. Oakmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
