It was a Battle of the Birds when Mountain Vista took on Highlands Ranch on Monday. The Golden Eagles blew past the Falcons 13-1. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Mountain Vista got a massive performance out of Lily Oss, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Alexa Reinig was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Mountain Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Douglas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Regis Jesuit, falling 16-6.
Reese Bowman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayal Fulmer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
The victory got Mountain Vista back to even at 11-11. As for Douglas County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
Douglas County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain Vista has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Douglas County, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Mountain Vista's sizable advantage in that area, the Huskies will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mountain Vista took their win against Douglas County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
