This season hasn't been kind to the Bellefonte Raiders, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They took a serious blow against Bellwood-Antis on Wednesday, falling 54-26. While losing is never fun, Bellefonte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while Bellwood-Antis is ranked 231st).
Bellwood-Antis found their leader in underclassman Lilly Gerwert, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Leigha Clapper, who scored nine points along with five assists and three steals.
Bellefonte bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bellwood-Antis, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.
Bellefonte will be playing in front of their home fans against Hollidaysburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hollidaysburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Bellefonte likes a good challenge. As for Bellwood-Antis, they will head out on the road to face off against Clearfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
