Clairton is 0-4 against the Eagles since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Clairton Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Serra Catholic Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Clairton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully the Eagles likes a good challenge.
Clairton can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Springdale 90-20 at home. Clairton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Iyanna Wade was her usual excellent self, scoring 40 points. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Clairton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of K Brown, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Serra Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 59-47 to Greensburg Central Catholic.
Clairton pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Serra Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
Clairton took a serious blow against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January, falling 85-48. Can Clairton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
