The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will square off against the Pacifica Tritons at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
St. Bonaventure took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Nordhoff an 8-0 shutout. The Seraphs haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Rowen Kaiser made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kaiser was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Aaron Byrd and Luc Beauchemin did most of the damage at the plate: Byrd went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Beauchemin got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Beauchemin has posted since back in March. Collin Barker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Pacifica came out on top against Buena on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Tritons blew past the Bulldogs 8-1.
Ricky Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Devon Wilkes was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Pacifica hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.
Pacifica pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Bonaventure, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
St. Bonaventure came out on top in a nail-biter against Pacifica when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Seraphs repeat their success, or do the Tritons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
