The Homestead Mustangs will take on the Santa Clara Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Clara took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Homestead, who comes in off a win.
Homestead is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Los Altos on Wednesday as they made off with a 14-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Drew Hamburger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Ivan Hwang was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Homestead is 4-1 when Hwang posts two or more runs, but 6-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aiden Maylard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Homestead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Santa Clara was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 10-3 to Wilcox.
Dominick Chavarria made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Santa Clara's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
Homestead skirted past Santa Clara 2-0 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
