Severance had won nine straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 17-4-1 to make it ten. They blew past the Greeley Central Wildcats 18-1. The result was nothing new for the Silver Knights, who have now won 13 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Camryn Henneke and Elizabeth Stimatze made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Henneke tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stimatze pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Henneke went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Stimatze went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Stimatze has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, Taylor Steenburgen and Kenzy Henneke did most of the damage at the plate: Steenburgen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Henneke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carly Zentveld, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Severance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in seven consecutive games.
As for Greeley Central, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 17 runs.
On Greeley Central's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ziva Travis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.
Severance didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-5 draw against Wellington on the 10th. As for Greeley Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-0 defeat against Timnath on the 9th.
