Smethport is 0-10 against Otto-Eldred since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Smethport Hubbers will head out on the road to face off against the Otto-Eldred Terrors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Smethport ended up a good deal behind Johnsonburg and lost 58-42. Smethport has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-29, which was the final score in Otto-Eldred's tilt against Redbank Valley on Monday. While losing is never fun, Otto-Eldred can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Redbank Valley is ranked 119th).
Despite the defeat, Otto-Eldred saw an underclassman step up: Rayel Hakes scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Smethport's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Otto-Eldred, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.
Smethport came up short against Otto-Eldred when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 41-37. Can Smethport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
