Softball Recap: St. Cecilia Has No Trouble Against Mccook

While St. Cecilia put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for McCook. The Bluehawks were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Bison. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Bluehawks this season.

St. Cecilia let Avery Kissinger and Maddison Bauer run wild. Kissinger went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Bauer went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Hawkinson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

St. Cecilia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

St. Cecilia has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for McCook, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, St. Cecilia will welcome Grand Island Central Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bluehawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for McCook, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highway 6 at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
